Justice league
The title of the film isn't visible, however a tag line is the main Text on the poster. Each character is given his or her own equal space which shows equality between the members of the justice league and would appeal to a female audience as it portrays Wonder Woman as equal to her male colleagues. The tagline includes the logos of each of the protagonists suggesting a uniqueness to each character and to show that they are equal to one another as they each take up one letter. The main protagonists are placed as large which takes up most of the poster to show authority and power.
The background is black which makes the character stand out more and the dark nature of the film but the characters are vibrant which suggests the are the ones to combat the darkness. Affleck's Batman is placed in the center suggesting he has a main role within the film and will be one of the main focus of the film. Placing Batman within the center of the poster is also a a marketing technique. He is a widely reconised across the world and audience's will be drawn in to view the film as he is included as the main protagonist of the film. Batman being in the center also suggests that he a leader figure for the other members and is the one who brings them all together.
The tagline is bold and the white colour makes it stand out, as it doesn't clash with any other white on the poster. Its central and immediately catches the the audiences eye due to it standing out from the rest of the poster.
At the bottom of the poster is a date for the film and the distributor also a logo for the film which will be associated with the film. I like this poster a lot due to its simplistic yet simplistic design. Also I like the way the characters are organised in this poster and all are looking away giving a heroic look
which gives an admirable view of the characters. This poster has inspired me to think about my typography more for my poster and to give it personal link to the characters. By conducting research into typography I should be able to find a suitable font style for my poster
I will come back and look at this when creating my own Ancillary Product

Research Into Target Audience: Music Choice Survey
Music is pivotal to a trailer as it can create atmosphere for the trailer. The song needs to be appropriate as it needs to create an intense atmosphere especially in an action movie genre. further more I have narrowed my song choice down to two possible candidates. These are:
'The Walker Brothers'
'The Sun ain't Gonna Shine'
'The Walker Brothers'
'The Sun ain't Gonna Shine'
'The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine' by the 'Walker Brothers' is song which fits the action genre as it has a slow start but builds up to the chorus which would fit a movement scene or action scene. I have analysed this in a previous blog post but to summarise this songs narrative fits my trailer perfectly as the lyrics say.
"Loneliness is the cloak you wear
A deep shade of blue is always there
The sun ain't gonna shine anymore
The moon ain't gonna rise in the sky
The tears are always clouding your eyes"
Also this is primarily a love song it could be interpreted as a song about a world in turmoil and people trying to cope. This therefore relates to the plot of my trailer.
''The Rolling Stones''
''Gimme Shelter''
'Gimme Shelter' by The Rolling Stones is another song I have analysed in a previous blog post but will briefly summarize. The songs is a rock song and the lyrics link to the themes of my moving image project
'Oh, a storm is threatening
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away'
The storm may be seen as some kind of battlement or army approaching which gives us a link to the action genre. It may also be interpreted that a bombardment may be happening, such as the London blitz. These themes suggested throughout the entire song. Overall this song has a fast paced' upbeat tempo which would be suitable for the action genre and one I am strongly considering.

Snapchat Survey
The scene in which the music would go with is the fight scene i have recorded. I have shown them this scene by linking the blog post to them. They viewed each clip and decided which one would,ve been the best.

From the above Survey's Katie's one gave the most foresight however all decided to go with Gimme Shelter as it has a faster tempo and the lyrics suit the themes of my trailer. However i will do another Survey on music as one of my survey members suggested another song which may be good to use.
The song that was suggested Kaleo " Can't go on without you " is the suggested song for my Trailer. I will analyse this song in greater depth in a future blog post. Harry believes this song is suitable as he is acting in this production and knows my aims and the scene i am using it for so therefore i will analyse it myself and and then do Another survey to see what my target audience think. From what i have seen already the lyrics link to themes within my trailer therefore making it a suitable candidate to consider.

Drafting and planning: Commencement of editing
Now that all of the filming is near enough done, with a possible re-shoot for a few scenes, I can now begin the editing phase of my moving image project.
Now I have started the editing process this will give me ample time to make a well edited trailer. I have trimmed the length of a few of the scenes to make them the required length As you can see in the top right of the screenshot i have much in the way of scenes to edit and place into my trailer. This means i can easily put them together and edit it as i'm going along. I have used the story board i have created to help with the structure and the length of each scene that i have started to edit. I have also started to add some sound effects and music to the scenes that i believed needed them or i wanted them to have. However as you can tell there are some scenes which need to be finished and completed and these are scheduled to be completed very soon so then i will have the whole trailer to edit and make perfect but for now i have started the stage of the scenes that i do have done to make time scheduling much easier.

Drafting and Planning: Film Distribution.
As I am making a film trailer it is a good idea to think about what film distributor logos to have within my trailer. This will give the trailer a realistic and professional look and will add the the feel to it and make people think they are watching a real trailer.
Some distributors are:
20th Century Fox is the first distributor that came to mind as it one of the biggest conglomerates in the world. It is responsible for some of the biggest films in history such as the 'Alien Franchise' and the 'Empire Strikes Back'. This film company has distributed many action flicks such as 'Avatar', 'Logan' and 'Die Hard'. So by using this as my distributor, the audience would know that 20th century fox are responsible for some of the biggest action films ever. I feel that if I include this company in the trailer then it would look more like a main stream trailer which would appeal to a domestic and global audience. However looking at films similar to my own, such as 'The Road' I have found that they use independent distributors such as 'Dimension Films' which was the distributor used for 'The Road'.
Another distributor is Warner Bros. Pictures which is a distributed big films such as 'The Dark Knight' and 'Harry Potter' Saga. This Company appealed to me for the wide array of action films they have distributed. Films that have been distributed by Warner Bros. have be well marketed. To have this particular company distribute my movie would ensure that the movie is not only marketed well but also ensures that when the audience sees the movie advertised they will know its in the hands of a distributor that is well known for these movies.
Universal is my final choice of a film distributor as it another of the biggest film conglomerates in the world. This film company is know for its big budgets in films. although this film distributor has recently done a mix of thriller and horror they do have so actions films, such as ast and furious franchise under their belt. So if i were to choose this particular distributor then i would have a distributor that is well known For making some of the biggest film franchises such as Jurassic world and the fast and furious franchise
I have now researched into these different distributors in an attempt to find the most suitable for my film. However for a film to be even more successful it may have more then one distributor which means more funding and more attraction from audiences.
Some distributors are:
- Studio Canal
- Warner Bro.s
- Universal
- Scott free
- Lionsgate
- 20th Century Fox
- Paramount Picture

Research into Similar Products: Blade Runner 2049 Film Poster
Now all filming is pretty much complete i can begin editing and turning my attention to the ancillary products. I have briefly looked at and analysed both ancillary products which are the poster and the magazine front cover but now i can focus these attention to them both and begin to formulate ideas by looking at both products. I have recently looked at a film magazine so i will begin analyzing a film posters and have a list of different film posters i like and i can find inspiration from and implement into my final product. I will be strictly looking at Action posters as this is the genre I am doing.
Blade Runner 2049
The title of this poster is very bold and in your face using a very suitable typography for its poster and for the film, suggesting the kind of film it is to the audience. The film has a variety of genres, which i have researched into, such as action adventure and science fiction. The way the title of the film is presented connotes both of these genres as it uses a futuristic font. The title of the film is situated in the center of the poster towards the bottom and draws the audience to it as it is big, bold and has be placed so it can be seen but not obscure the main image. This is something I could incorporate into my own poster. I like the way the typography is used and my own moving image project is set in the near future so I like the idea of having a font which implies this. The name of the title film also suggests a futuristic vibe as 2049 is in the future. Above the title we see two names which correlate with the two large men of the main image to show who these are.
The main images shows the main characters, protagonists and antagonists, who are strategically placed to suggest certain aspects about their characters. K (Ryan Gosling) and Deckard (Harrison Ford) are both seen towering over the other characters on the poster suggesting that they are superior or will end up victorious by the films final acts. The other two characters are smaller yet Leto's character is placed in exactly the same place as Gosling's character on the red side suggesting an evil nature. Leto's character is the antagonist of the movie.
The background uses the contrast of two colours, red and blue, to simply suggest the battle between good and evil. Gosling's character is placed on the line between the two colours which suggests that there is an inner turmoil within his character or an evil side whereas Harrison's character is more in the blue suggesting he is more morally good. The background also shows us some areas that will also possible be explored which give off a futuristic vibe for example the flying cars on the blue side.
This is a poster I like a lot. Although there is no tagline I will do more research into different posters to see if I should have one. This poster has inspired me to think about my typography more for my poster and to give it a futuristic vibe. By conducting research into typography I should be able to find a suitable font style for my poster. Also i like the way the characters are organised in this poster and all are looking away giving a heroic look, except for the girl in middle who is making eye contact with the audience.
I will certainly look back at this poster when formulating my ideas due to its simple design and how it easily suggests the genre and film narrative.

Organisation: Last shooting days
I have stated in my previous 'shooting days' blog post that I will need to shoot more small scenes for my trailer to finish it off. I doubt that i can get these before Christmas however would like to get them done around 26th - 27th of December. However some of my actors won't be available for these dates due to family commitments, but have said that they are able to film on the 2nd and 3rd of January 2018 therefore i now have my final dates to film and will film their scenes on this day. On the 26th it appears that it may snow but won't be severe enough, I believe, to postpone filming any further. If it does i will be able to do those scenes on the 2nd and 3rd of January. When these scenes are done, the filming part of my coursework will now be concluded. this means i can spend more time on the editing of my coursework so it is made to appear as an action trailer.
December 2017 Dates
January 2018 Dates
Shots to still shoot
- The Main protagonist and his group walking through the woods.
- Over the shoulder shot of the main antagonist
- High angle shot of group walking
- Main antagonists men walking through forest with lit torches
I hope to film these short scenes on the filming dates specified above and with those scenes done my trailer should be done and ready for editing

Organisation : Scenes Shot last week during
The shots we took on the 16th of December up in the Lickey hills. It was still snowy up there which meant we got some really great footage. All of this footage i Intend to put into the beginning of my trailer to help introduce the audience to type of film it is.

Organisation: Change of Shooting Days
After filming on the 4th and 5th of November I realized that I needed more days to shoot. Originally I intended to plan to shoot between the 9-10th of December which was a weekend and when my actors would of been free to film. However due to the extreme whether conditions surrounding these few days this was impossible to do. As a result I have changed My shooting day to the weekend commencing the 16th (Today) and the 17th December. I will be able to shoot the scenes I was not able to last week. Therefore this will mean I will have the majority of my scenes Filmed and done and can begin with the editing process. I may still have one or two scenes still needing to be filmed however these are small scenes and can be done within a few hours of my last shooting day.
Hopefully all will go as planned and I will be able to film the scenes i intend and then i will only have one more shooting date for my final scenes

The scene will retain its darkness as eerie music begins to build up the next scene.

Drafting and Planning: Poster Tagline
Now that I have my idea for my trailer confirmed I can now begin creating ideas for my ancillary products. From researching into posters I have found that an effective poster had a tag line which helps audiences remember the film more easily or catches the audiences attention. A tagline should never draw away from the main title of the film but adds more information to the film creating a deeper understanding of the plot just from the poster. It should be a quick or quirky caption to engage the audience or one that doesn't make much sense as audiences need to see the film to understand it creating mystery around the film or the central characters. Some of the posters I thought were good are below as they offer variation to the poster tagline.
Looking at the posters on the left hand side there is a wide range of posters from various genres, such as Thriller, Horror, Action and Adventure etc. each tagline is tailored to the films genre. For example 'The Woman in Black' poster has the tagline '' Do you believe in ghosts?''. This is a rhetorical question and directly addresses the audience. The title of the film may not necessarily reveal what the film is about however the tagline reveals that it is based around a ghost.
- Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade - '' The man in the hat is back, and this time he's bringing his dad ''
- Alien Covenant - '' Run ''
- Its Alive - ''There's only ONE thing wrong with this baby''
- No Country for Old Men - "There Are No Clean Getaways"
- The 40 Year Old Virgin - ''The Longer You Wait The Harder It Gets''
- Paranoia - ''Trust No One''
From researching into this I have come up with my own taglines for my film trailer.
- At least it can't get any worse ... or can it?
- No one is safe
- He's coming
- There Are No Days Off
- A group of dysfunctional idiots and radiation poisoning. Two of his favourite things.
- Hunt before You're Hunted
- They have a plan ... but not a clue
I will confer with my class and see what they think about my suggests for taglines but at the moment I am pleased with what I have found out about taglines and the ones I have came up with.

Organisation: Editing software
For the post production of my trailer it is essential to have some editing software which can effectively construct a successful trailer structure yet easy to understand and use. Editing is perhaps the most important aspect of film making as films such as ''Star Wars'' were edited multiple times which made a ''New Hope'' much better then its original first cut. I have decided that whilst I film i will also edit my trailer as i go along as this will give me more time to go back and edit if needs be.
The Software that I am using to edit my final piece is Serif movie plus as I find this a reliable and easy piece of editing software to use. I have used Serif Movie Plus before for the school video last year. I found it an incredibly easy tool to use whilst it was able to put together a great quality video for the school. Using this software is ideal as I already have some prior knowledge of how to use it therefore I will be able to produce my film trailer much more quickly without having to worry about learning the different processes within the application.

Organisation: Shooting Days
After my first few shooting days and Making amendments to my scripts i have decided that this weekend will be a perfect time to film. The 9th and 10th of December means everyone will be able to film. This will take place in the Lickey Hills for scenes which take place within a forest. being able to shoot on a weekend means I will be more free and have more creative elements as if i were to shoot in the week i would not have as much time to be able to do it. Now that i have created a date for my filming i can now create a call sheet for the day of filming describing the locations and the shots for the shoots of the day.
I will have other recording days for different locations and settings which i can't get to on these particular days in the future. These dates will be added later on in this blog once these dates are filmed.

Organisation : Props
Of course as you know I decided to get some props to enhance the look and feel of the trailer. As you know the main props I wanted to get were guns. My main aim for wanting to use the guns was so that the genre of the film could be emphasised and the world that the main characters live in is represented as one where they must carry guns for their own safety.
I decided to spray pain the guns silver to create a more realistic effect onto them. This also means are attention won't be drawn to them in the trailer. I also added variations of of weapons so it doesn't look like we've used the same guns through and bought a gun that appears to be futuristic which is okay to have in my production as i have left the time period ambiguous.
I have also included two distinct bottles both having a name on and belonging to the two brothers Grey and Liam. These won't be anything major but will appear from time to time even when grey will be drinking from his or his brother's bottle will be used to emphasise a part of the story line The bottles are actually quite representation as the one with Grey on it is blue suggesting a depressing life or existence and has no lid implying he is unhinged as a character
Another prop I intend to use is a bag. This will also suggest the idea of an apocalypse and shows how people carry their belongs with them if the have no permanent residence.
These are just a few of the props that i think would be useful to have in my production. There were other props i was going to put down on this list but felt that they came more under costume. However I am pleased with how the production is coming together as i nearly have all of the aesthetic and visual items ready for filming.

Organisation : Shot List
I have created a shot list now that I have completed a script so that I have a clear idea of how what footage I need to film and how it must be filmed. Once again, these may change during the filming if they do not appear how I want to and work better with a different shot, however having an idea and being organised before filming is a good idea so that I do not go in completely clueless.
I have printed off several copies of both the script and the shot list so that I can give my actors a copy, as they need to know their lines of course using the script, and I believe the shot list will help them understand what they need to be doing in more depth as they will know how they are being filmed. I will also be able to offer verbal feedback if the shots are not working. The timings are also helpful as they give me an awareness of how long each of these shots should be, preventing me from creating a trailer that is either too long or too short. I was quite harsh with my timings and therefore I think the finished result may be longer than 2 minutes and 5 seconds. I am not going to allow the trailer to be longer than around 2 minutes 30 - 40 seconds.
Now that I have a shot list and the script, I am going to create an updated storyboard as well as an animatic so that all of this information is gathered in one place and presented in an easier fashion for me to reflect on when filming.
